The Glitter Knitter Jam at Starbucks

One of the very few things you can be sure of around Steven Berg, the Glitter Knitter, is that fashion fibers will abound and deals will flow. This evening a gang of folks were at the Rosemount Starbucks for the Glitter Knitter Jam. Baskets of new stock and hundreds of ideas and show and tells and fashion knitting knowledge flowed around the tables with Steven at the helm and Christa, the Senior Glitter knitter in attendance with Bob White on the violin serenading the entire crew. We got 100% of our daily fiber needs as established by the GKFA, (Glitter Knitter Fiber Authority). Steven unveiled all the hottest new trends for Fall/Winter 2008/2009. We witnessed Steven's cureall for Holiday Gift Giving. We fought the financial downturn with our handmade gifts created with love. There was an astounding felted scarf with sewn and felted adornments. There were Angora wonders, and Christa brought some fashion fasteners milled from wood by a Wisconsin artisian. Many of these items are only available from Steven at the Yarn Garage. Ohhhs and Ahhhhs abounded with fresh and exciting revelations from Steven and Christa. Wish you could have been there.

Surprizes, Fun, and Fiber at Starbucks, Rosemount

Some call it the Glitter Knitter Jam, other Sit, Sip and Knit, but whatever you call it, a gang of happy fiber artists got the latest and greatest news and information from the Yarn Garage, they got hints and tips from Steven on their projects, they listened to the Violin of Bob White while they knit, and just generally had a fiberlicious time at Starbucks in Rosemount. We had men knitting and crocheting, we had marvelous samples of Starbucks fare supplied by the shop, we chatting and laughed, and got a lot of charity work done.

If you haven't been to a Glitter Knitter Jam, make sure you get to the next one. You do not know the fun and education you are missing.

A Big Dose of Summer Creative Joy at Starbucks

I wish you could have been with us at Starbucks this evening.

The unique experience of being with other creative fiber artist, creating our own unique art, on the patio of the Rosemount Starbucks with the encouragement and energy of Steven firing us all up.  At the same time Bob White is playing the tunes we request on the violin.  Is there any finer experience on this fine summer evening,  I would say not.

Steven also gave away his charity knitting pattern and showed some new and wonderful things from the Columbus, Ohio  TNNA Show.

A fantastic time was had by all.

Sharing the Wonders of Fiber Creation

What a great day!!! Today Steven shared the wonders of fiber creation with some of the 10,000 folks who came to the River Center in St. Paul for the American Craft Council Show, he will do the same thing tomorrow at 11 AM at the same place. Just go to the Demo Center.

The wide eyed expressions of the hundreds who view the demo attest to the magic that Steven can perform. Hopefully some of them will drop down to the Yarn Garage for more information and materials.

Renee was also there doing her magic spinning of the yarn and showing others. Renee is our in-house spin expert. She and Angela will be hosting a spin-off next Starbuck's Glitter Knitter Jam on May 12.

This is a not to be missed show. The ACC folks were also very impressed with Steven and his creations.

What a Night at the Rosemount Starbucks!!

Over 30 Knit and Crochet Fiber fanatics had a blast at Starbucks in Rosemount tonight. They enjoyed attention from Steven and Steven's Mom, Christa, working on their own projects and also working on Glitter Knitter Gang charitable hats to give to newborns. Steven showed some of the new and exciting fibers that just arrived at the shop and, to those who are on the Glitter Knitter email list, gave out great discounts on the latest and greatest yarns. This is a not to be missed event.

Bob White played show and folk tunes on the violin while the wonderful Starbucks crew served treats and great Starbucks coffee. Bob also invited the gang to sign up for the Fall "Cast Off to England, The Great British/American Knitting Tour" that Steven is hosting. For more information on that, click here.

Remember, every second Monday of the Month, the gang gathers at Starbucks in Rosemount. Be there next month for special spring knitting projects Steven will bring.

Sit, Sip, & Knit!

If you weren't at the Starbucks at 42 & 3 in Rosemount Monday night, you missed a heck of a good time!

We had our monthly Sit, Sip, & Knit night this last Monday and it was a fun and festive evening indeed.

It was nice to get a chance to get away from the holiday shopping and relax with some yarn and great conversation.

Oh, and tableside music! Bob was there, spreading holiday cheer with classic carols and other favorites on his violin.

The "theme" for the night definitely centered around luxury fibers and patterns put together to make stunning pieces. We brought samples of elegant assymetrical sweaters, princess bell-sleeved shrugs, cozy wrap cardigans, and our newest items from Be Sweet: woven afghans with ostrich feather trim. These are absolutely stunning and not to be missed!

~~~~~
Speaking of not to be missed, if you haven't been in the shop lately, you're going to be quite surprised! Things are changing, aisles are moving, and it's really going to open up a lot of space. You should come in and check it out!
~~~~~

Oh, and if you're looking for some last minute very quick holiday gift knits, these little ruffled cufflets are perfect! There are lots of different ways you can go about making these, so come on in and ask about them!

Sit, Sip, & Knit!

Coffee and Yarn! They go well together, don't you think? There were about thirteen of us at Starbucks last night that agreed on that!

It was SSK! No, not slip slip knit...

Sit, Sip, & Knit!

Every second Monday of the month, Glitter Knitter Steven and other knitting enthusiasts from the area gather at the Starbucks in Rosemount to knit, enjoy tasty java, find inspiration in other's creativity, and see what's up and coming at the Yarn Garage.

Steven showed us a virtual plethora of beautiful yarns and what you could make with them - there were shrugs, shawls, scarves, hats, and more. Of course, everything was dazzling and each showed his personal style - that which embodies his self proclaimed title of Glitter Knitter.

Not to mention the colors! Such bright and fun new colors.

Speaking of bright and fun, don't you just love this? It's a sweater Steven's working on made from bright chunky yellow yarn doubled with Police "Crime Scene - Do Not Cross" tape!

He's knitting on what he calls "size 1000 needles." They are huge! If you look closely at the bottom of the picture you can see the point from one of them.

A bizarre idea, yes, but so fun.

He also brought some new knitting literature to entice and inspire us, and also to teach.

And to top it off, we were serenaded! How cool is that?

Steven's friend Bob, (who does the store's website and also knits) is a wonderful violinist and charmed us with his beautiful musical stylings as we knit and socialized.

What a great atmosphere that created!

Here's Violinist and Glitter Knitter together, doing what they love best - fiddling and knitting!

If you're in the Twin Cities area and you want to come, the next one is March 12. Bring your knitting and join us from 6:30-9 at the Starbucks in Rosemount at the corner of 42 & 3. There's a Creative Cost of $5.

Hope to see you there!
