England with the Glitter Knitter

Andy Tatum, our tour director for the Cast off for England - The Great American / British Knitting Tour, says that the Steven and eight other folks from around the country are already signing up for the Tour.

"There are only 20 Spots total on this tour so sign up NOW."

Staying in a recently updated 17th Century
coaching Inn, and local Bed & Breakfasts, our trip will visit the beautiful Derbyshire Peak District, home to Rowan Yarns. The centerpiece for the trip will be a 2-day workshop hosted by Rowan Yarns, as part of their 30th Anniversary celebrations. We will also feature several half-day workshops with Steven, where we hope to invite English knitters from the area. To give your fingers a rest, we will be offering side trips to some of the local attractions, including historic houses, market towns and some sites of significance to the yarn and knitting industry.

Non-Knitters are welcome too!

Let your Light Shine!! - The Minneapolis Urban Knitters Group

Every second Sunday, Steven and folks who are Urban Fiber Fanatics meet at the wonderful Wilde Roast in the East Hennepin Area. You need to let Steven know if you are coming so make certain you are on the email list to get the announcements and the specials.

They show their latest creativity and get tips from Steven, The Glitter Knitter, on tuning up projects in the build. There are a lot of exciting new ideas every meeting.

"Steven brought the entire store down here," one of the knitters said.

When you see the designs and the fibers and the energy at the Urban Knitters group, it becomes obvious that there is a whole new level of fiber art going on here. This "ain't your grandmother's knitting."

Working with Steven is not for your average fiber artist. His energy is infectious, his skills phenomenal, his ideas amazing.

There are a number of events where you can meet and work with this astounding artist. You can find them on the Yarn Garage Calendar here.  For the latest information on all Yarn Garage happenings join the Yarn Garage Email list. Just click on the "Sign Up Today" button and give the Yarn Garage your Information. You will then receive an email from the Yarn Garage which you need to respond to. What a Night at the Rosemount Starbucks!!

Over 30 Knit and Crochet Fiber fanatics had a blast at Starbucks in Rosemount tonight. They enjoyed attention from Steven and Steven's Mom, Christa, working on their own projects and also working on Glitter Knitter Gang charitable hats to give to newborns. Steven showed some of the new and exciting fibers that just arrived at the shop and, to those who are on the Glitter Knitter email list, gave out great discounts on the latest and greatest yarns. This is a not to be missed event.

Bob White played show and folk tunes on the violin while the wonderful Starbucks crew served treats and great Starbucks coffee. Bob also invited the gang to sign up for the Fall "Cast Off to England, The Great British/American Knitting Tour" that Steven is hosting. For more information on that, click here.

Remember, every second Monday of the Month, the gang gathers at Starbucks in Rosemount. Be there next month for special spring knitting projects Steven will bring.

The BUZZ since last time is...

Steven is still continually rolling out ideas and projects from his latest adventures to L.A. One of the more popular projects we have been focusing on here at the shop is Needle Felting. We just had a Needle Felting 101 class this morning. It was such a huge success we are planning on holding them on a regular basis, so keep on the lookout for when the next one is.

Also Purse Mania is still going strong; no more too big, too small, or wrong color complaints with your purses. Learn to make your own fabulous one of a kind masterpieces. There have been some pretty amazing purses rolling out of our store by our customers creations. And we have all the supplies, talent and know how to help you out.

Next thing to be aware of is the Yarn Garage is going GREEN. Yep thats right we have brought in a new line of corn, milk, soy, and hemp yarns. Sounds like the ingredients to Grandma's cornbread but it's not - it is really the products used to make the yarns.

Ladies, we have come to your rescue again! No need to try to find an excuse to leave the house on Super Bowl Sunday. We will be at the Wilde Roast Cafe in NE Minneapolis from 1-4. As usual, Steven will be showing off some of the newer project ideas. Won't you come and join us?

Sit, Sip, & Knit!

If you weren't at the Starbucks at 42 & 3 in Rosemount Monday night, you missed a heck of a good time!

We had our monthly Sit, Sip, & Knit night this last Monday and it was a fun and festive evening indeed.

It was nice to get a chance to get away from the holiday shopping and relax with some yarn and great conversation.

Oh, and tableside music! Bob was there, spreading holiday cheer with classic carols and other favorites on his violin.

The "theme" for the night definitely centered around luxury fibers and patterns put together to make stunning pieces. We brought samples of elegant assymetrical sweaters, princess bell-sleeved shrugs, cozy wrap cardigans, and our newest items from Be Sweet: woven afghans with ostrich feather trim. These are absolutely stunning and not to be missed!

~~~~~
Speaking of not to be missed, if you haven't been in the shop lately, you're going to be quite surprised! Things are changing, aisles are moving, and it's really going to open up a lot of space. You should come in and check it out!
~~~~~

Oh, and if you're looking for some last minute very quick holiday gift knits, these little ruffled cufflets are perfect! There are lots of different ways you can go about making these, so come on in and ask about them!
