Pittsburgh Wrap-up

Steven is home from Pittsburgh and oh, the stories he has to tell!  If you remember, he took Mama Christa, and they rocked it out!  They got in on Thursday night, and as we neglected to arrange a shuttle from the airport,  he had a $100 cab fare!  Let's just say, he was annoyed, until he walked into the hotel lobby and was greeted by Sarah, who declared, "Oh my god!  You're StevenBe!  I am your BIGGEST fan!  Will you sign my Vogue Knitting?"  Steven told me he was mobbed everywhere he went and he felt more like Justin Beiber than Rod Stewart!

He signed so many autographs I had to put him in a wrist brace when he got home!  Friday night he hosted the fashion show and gave it the StevenBe energy and humor!  Steven and Christa set up their booth with Steven's handspun and sparkle and opened for business on Saturday.  They also showed our favorite Mosco sweaters and shawls from Skacel.

Steven had 50 people gathered at all times to see his demonstration on our handspun, mohair, sequin cowls.  Steven and Christa worked non-stop bringing the StevenBe flare to Pittsburgh.  People ate it up!

Malabrigo Rasta, Florafil, Alpaca Glow, Feza, and so much more!

It is so great working at the Yarn Garage and StevenBe.  Every time I open a box of yarn it is like opening a present!  It is so exciting to see the new products and to see more of the yarn I love!  Such as, Malabrigo Rasta!  We received a shipment of the Rasta and Silky Merino.

We also received Plymouth Baby Alpaca Grande Glow!  It is the same great Alpaca Grande that we know and love plus glitter!  It has a little BLING in it!  I am imagining a shrug or hat done in the Grande Glow.  It is so pretty!

The Alpaca Grande Glow is on the right in the picture above.  It is hard to see the glitter, but it is there! It is subtle, but effective!

Also in the new yarn display, we have solid colors of Florafil, a beautiful cotton produced here in the U.S.A.

The solids colors compliment the variegated colors that we already had in stock.  We also received new patterns and samples from Florafil featuring their textured cotton! Click here to see some of their patterns!  I cannot take off the Yoga Shrug!  It is so cozy!  Of course, you need to stop in to see the samples in person, but maybe if I am lucky, I can get some pictures of the samples posted tonight.  That is, if the Wild Women of Wednesday are willing to be the models!

For more in the BLING department,........

We received new colors of Feza Chanel, Dazzle, Premier, Alp Oriental, Alp Virgin.

We are loving the Alp Premier Jacket seen below.

Feza is also doing a great job of providing free patterns.  Here are a few examples:

Rounded Shawl

One ball of Alp Oriental makes this Cabled Scarf.

And, this Horizontal Cabled Scarf only takes one Alp Oriental, too!

Make a Mohawk Hat for the punk rocker in your life!  Only, one ball of Alp Oriental!

Stop in to see any of these new fabulous yarn, samples, or patterns!  Before I go, I have to tell you about our Bling Sale!  We have Feza Petra 1/2 price!!!!

And, we received Katia Tul (or Ondas) which ruffles when you knit it!  LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE it!

Check out the free scarf pattern!

I want to remindall of our Pittsburgh fans, that Steven will be in Pittsburgh for the Pittsburgh Knit & Crochet Show Feb. 11, 12, 13th!  He is going to MC the fashion show.  He is bringing Mama Christa and she will be running his booth where he will be selling his line of handspun yarn!  If you are in the area, go check him out!  In the meantime, GLITTER IT UP!

OMG Shibui!

We reveal to our followers,.....Shibui Knits!!!

We are so excited to now carry this line of yarn and patterns!  We have Baby Alpaca D.K., Staccato, and Silk Cloud

We have great patterns that feature the beautiful Shibui yarn!  Beware, this blog is image heavy since I have to show you every pattern we received!  Each one is fabulous and I can't decide where to begin!  Steven and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Piega Cowl!

This may look familiar to you.  Last seen on Steven at TNNA.

This cowl is done in two pieces that you weave together.  Pretty clever!  Steven likes to wear this cowl in multiples - one as a headband and one as a cowl.  This cowl is done with Baby Alpaca D.K. and Silk Cloud held together.  It is so luxurious!

We also love.......

The Ruffled Ruched Scarf.

The Challah Infinity Scarf

Quilted Lattice Ascot

Shibui Luxury - the book!! FULL Of fabulous things!

Cabled Rib Wrap

Chrysalide Shrug - my personal favorite!
This one uses the Staccato which is a sock/fingering weight yarn.

Ready, Set, New!

A new shipment of Manos del Uruguay wool called, Maxima, came in last week!

Here is Steven with his bundles of the Maxima in the new colors!  Now, you may say, "What does one make with this beautiful Fair Trade 100% Extra Fine Merino Wool?"  I am so glad you asked!  Why not make the Campfire Cowl?

Click here for the Campfire Cowl pattern

 Or, the Botany Kerchief!

We also continued to be enthralled with the Namaste Bitty Bag and all things Namaste!

Christine, one of our members and regular attendee of Wild Women of Wednesday, is shown here with her Hermosa bag, Bitty bag, wallet, and Oh Snap! project bags.  She is all smiles with her coordinating Namaste products!  Namaste makes all knitters lives easier with their products!

I was very excited to open the new trunk show and yarn from Alchemy Yarns of Transformation!

We received a combination of Haiku, Silk Straw, Silk Purse, Kozmos, Pagoda, and Juniper.

We received The Poet's Shawl

 and the Portrait Scarf

and the Ripple Wrap and the Wisdom Wrap.  Steven will be bringing the trunk show back and forth between the two shops, along with the yarn and pattern books.  We can't wait to see you!  We want to see what you are working on, have finished, or would like to start!

Urban Knitters at StevenBe.......

We had a delightful day at StevenBe on Sunday afternoon.  It was one of our regular weekly events and we had many new things to show!  I was really excited to have opened our shipment from Namaste on Friday night!  The girls at Pizza & Purls got a small preview of the new bags and new color.

In this display we are showing the new Bitty Bags and the new light pink color in the circular needle case and buddy pack.  10% of the proceeds of the light pink products will be dontated to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.  Be sure to ask Steven what his "Bitty Bag" story is if you haven't already heard it.  He becomes quite animated when he tells it.  We are really liking the Classic Hip Holster.  It comes in all the great Namaste colors.

Also, in the display are the Trendsetter Bowl Bags.  We have them in Lime, Pink, and Navy.
I, personally, have the Lime Bowl bag.  It is FABULOUS!  I love that it has a zippered divider inside and I love the size!  I can get everything I need for work in it along with a knitting project.  I had this bag in L.A. and I took it everywhere, much to Steven's dismay.  I thought it fit in on Rodeo Drive just fine!

We had a new trunk show from Skacel to promote Mosco and Kid-Seta.

We have the beautiful cabled cowl, Mosco jacket, and Entralac Shawl.  They are all done using either Mosco alone or along with Kid-Seta.  We are waiting for another shipment from Skacel with additional Mosco colors for these projects.  We also received Fashion Angora which you should come in and try out.  Let us know if you love it, hate it, or can't live without it!  We are hoping it will be our new favorite Angora.  Stay posted for more new, new, new!
